A netbook case or sleeve tells us much about the person using it as does their clothing.

Yournetbook’s case or sleeve should first give your netbook protect and then second,  show off your personal style. Yes, your case says a lot about you -but looks should be secondary to protection.

The first thing that you should do when choosing a netbook case, sleeve or bag is to determine how and when you will be transporting your netbook. If you need to take back and forth from work do you want one that can also carry some of your paperwork from your job?

Do you need to carry extra items in your case or will you be just carrying your laptop and the necessary accessories?

Netbook  cases do have room for necessities and for some additional items like a lunch bag, extra cables and battery, a paperback or two etc. but if you have a lot to tote around either get a larger case or carry all of your extra items in a separate bag.

Then you must decide on whether you want to carry your case in your hand, as a back pack or a messenger bag. Yes, you’ll be able to find all three styles and often some cases allow you to use your case all 3 ways by just switching out a few straps.

Do you need a weatherproof  case? Most cases and sleeves offer some protection against the elements but if you walk to work or ride a bike and my be showered upon for more than just a few short minutes, you should opt for a weatherproof case.

Do you travel by air a lot? If you do you may want to invest in a checkpoint ready case.  These cases are specifically made to get you through the security lines quickly without having to remove your laptop from your case.  If your not familiar with these type of cases check out Skooba by clicking here, you can even watch the video on how this type of case works.

If you are only going to carry your laptop around in your office or at school you might find that a laptop sleeve works well. Just remember that with a sleeve, your hands won’t be free.

A sleeve is also good for when your laptop is just sitting on your desk. it keeps dirt and dust off it and both dirt and dust are enemies of your laptop and desktop computers.

Now for looks
Your case says a lot about you. Just like you have a certain wardrobe style your case should reflect your personality. Even though you may have to dress very modestly and sedate for work your case is one place that you can really show off your style.  You can find cases and sleeves in all colors and designs with sleeves having the most variety.

If you are just looking to add a bit of style to your laptop and just want to keep your laptop free from fingerprints and dust on the outside then a laptop skin, is a good option. However, a skin is basically for looks and will not give your laptop any added protection while transporting your laptop – this is best accomplished by a good laptop case or sleeve.

Your sleeve or case will be getting a good workout, so don’t go the cheapest route. Cases and sleeves are inexpensive anyway so try to purchase the best that you can afford. You laptop wasn’t cheap so give it the protection it deserves.
